Artist Statement

‘Working intuitively I lose myself in paint and let my instinct lead the way. As layers build up without a fixed destination I relish the moment where something unexpected emerges. This action of embracing chance and discovery is fundamental to my practice and keeps me coming back to the canvas.

I like to allow the piece to rest in a place somewhere between recognition and obscurity, allowing the viewer a chance to linger where they are not sure what they’re looking at but it still feels familiar.

Themes of self, motherhood and the natural world dominate my work — all of which connect me to something deeper than the ordinary, and painting is how I explore this.’
